Kouloumas out for Revenge

The weekend of the 25th of August saw the Cyprus Speed Event championship move to Larnaca for the Trikomitis Auto sprint, the Battle was about to resume between Kouloumas and Panaviotou for overall honors in one of the closest fought battles for the championship in many years.

Kouloumas was seeking revenge for the last event where an unusual mistake where he slipped off the road cost him the lead of the championship and resulted in a lowly fourth place.

Determination and commitment was the key in all four passes of the stage Kouloumas was quickest and when scores are dropped as they have to be for the overall championship the 5 wins now sees the Cool Motorsport driver lead the overall points.

Kouloumas takes the Championship Lead

The weekend of the 16-17 June saw all the competitors from The 2002 Cyprus Speed Event championship head to the west of the Island to compete in Famagusta Automobiles clubs auto sprint.
Manolis Kouloumas took the Cool Motorsport WRC Subaru ready to have the customary battle with Mario's Panagioutou in his Group A Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VI .This was an important outing as it would not only make it three wins in a row if Kouloumas won but it would also lift him to the head of the points scoring table.

This would be important as this event would see a re-seeding as far as start positions go for the rest of the season. The man leading the championship after this event would wear the coveted number 1 on the door which means that you find out everyone's times before you set of for your last run which is a major psychological advantage.

After the first run Mario was heading the fastest times nearly 2 seconds faster than everyone else, however the last run saw Kouloumas put in a near perfect run to go 2 seconds faster than Mario, the Mitsubishi man could find no response to this and at the halfway point Kouloumas now takes the championship lead.

2002 has seen the renewed partnership with Cool Motorsport take place and a decision was taken to have a further assault at the Cyprus championship.

This weekend on the East Safari Rally the first round of this championship has seen this partnership get off to the best possible start. A controlled well planned out attack saw him overhaul the 2001 champion Andreas Tsouloftas to win his first rally in nearly 3 years.

Chris was obviously overjoyed to be back winning; he said "It’s been a bit of a quiet period for me but it’s nice to know I still have it in me to win, I couldn’t hope for a better start to the championship. The team worked like clockwork all weekend and without their help and support this would not have been possible"

Cool Motorsport ran three cars on this rally - all of which finished in the top ten.

So when experience and professionalism count, there is only one team you should look to!!!

TWO OUT OF TWO - AND THE CROWDS WHERE THERE IN FORCE TO SEE IT!

This weekend saw the second win in a row at the O.F.A. Rally sprint for the Cool Motorsport WRC Subaru.  An estimated 10,000 people came out to watch the event, based in Nicosia, which lived up to the spectacle that these speed events have become.

Allthough new to the car Manolis Kouloumas continued to impress with his control and with this second win has put himself in a strong position now for the Cyprus Championship.
After the event he commented “I still feel I am a long way off getting 100% out of the car but each event helps me to get a little bit closer”

This win keeps Cool Motorsport on target for a clean sweep of the two main Motorsport championships in Cyprus.
